Working English Setters do not seem to suffer from any specific  health problems, but the English Setter Club feel that it is important for the working side of the Breed to be aware of  health issues and in particular would encourage breeders to think about hip scoring dogs used for breeding.

The English Setter Club is a member of the Joint English Setter Clubs Health Committee which consists of representatives from all seven of the English Setter Breed Clubs.

The English Setter Club Representative on this Committee is Rob Gould.    Any English Setter Club members who have any concerns about health issues in the Breed please  contact us

English Setter Breed Health Survey 1st November 2021

This is the most important survey on English Setter health in the UK for many years. We need you to tell us about your English Setter(s), even if they are in perfect health we need to hear from you! The survey is anonymous, but the results will inform the breed’s health plan.

The survey can be accessed by clicking the link https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/ESHS2021

The English Setter Health Committee is made up from representatives of each of the breed clubs. The Survey has been developed with support from the Kennel Club.

If you have any questions please contact Simon Pitts, Breed Health Coordinator. Simonpitts@wandsfell.co.uk
